Dangerous temperatures will settle over the state this week as the National Weather Service has issued Heat Advisories and Excessive Heat Watches through Thursday. Heat index values will rise to as high as 112 degrees and the heat and humidity will increase the potential for heat related illnesses, especially for those who work outside or participate in outdoor activities.
Be sure to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. And young children and pets should never be left in unattended vehicles under any circumstances, especially during hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in just minutes.
